We regularly misuse, misapply, and misconstrue intimacy. How many times have you kissed a cup today? And how many intimate actions do we overlook?
In this sculpture, I tried to marry figurative and non-figurative elements, blurring the line between an objectified figure and a figurative object. Fingers and cups are shaped together and from the same ceramic media, prescribing a dialectic of strength and fragility to the work. The water enters the vessel clear and exits it red, ascribing a transformative agency and a lingering sense of pain to the otherwise stoic object.
